Today I'm going to do my best Selvedge Yard impression and steer your gaze towards a better appreciation of Craig Breedlove and his jet powered Spirit of America.
In ambition and style both are classic American.
Breedlove was a five-time world land speed record holder. He was the first to reach 400 mph, 500 mph, and 600 mph using several turbojet-powered vehicles, all named Spirit of America.

Not especially familiar with Mr. Breedlove and his vehicles, but all the pictures clearly show a jet powered vehicle. A rocket powered one would not need engine air intakes.
