Trick Comp Results

Big Thanks to everyone who came out for the Trick Comp tonight. I estimate that around 70 folks showed up and 9 riders vied for the top spot.


Here's how it went down: After the first round we awarded third to Little Bob for his front wheel spin backwards circle keo thing.

Jesse had the better first run, but it was clear that everyone wanted to see more of these dudes, so we sent them out for another two minutes. Both had very good second runs, including Jesse once more trashing his fork and wheels, but Carney put together multiple big lines and pretty much fucking killed it to walk away with first place.

Sorry I don't have better pictures of the event, the lighting sucks in that garage. Our man Kevin was there filming it all though so we should have an edit for you real soon.

It was a great kickoff to the weekend, thank you to all who came out

Trick Comp Tonight

Today marks the start of ACC 09 with the Trick Comp

Meet at One on One at 10pm
We'll be riding in the government center parking garage so even if it's raining like hell the contest will go on.

If the weather's too poor to meet at One on One I'll post instructions later tonight.

The contest is open to any fixed gear. (fix out your BMX!)
the format will be 2 minutes for each riders, judged by Andy and I.

The top prize will be a Profile Hubset (I'll post pics of the prizes later today)

You have to be signed up for the weekend's events to take part in the comp.

Masi and Behind Bars

Masi and Behind Bars are teaming up to donate a Masi Sprint frame to the ACC

Per Chuck's (Behind Bars owner) request the frameset will be given away to the first fixed gear rider who returns with a complete manifest. The winner of said frameset will be able to go to Behind Bars and choose a Sprint frame of appropriate size.

So for all of you out there who used to ride fixed but are now on gears, quit being bitches and maybe you can win yourself a new ride.

Holy Shit I've Got Prizes!

Every year I'm always amazed at the amount of prizes we receive for the All City Championship. It's a good thing too, because I've got a lot of prize categories and a lot of events.

Take for instance these wheelsets.
They are two sets of Surly's on B43's and one set of All-City's to B43's

Back to who's getting prizes.

This year I will be giving prizes to all of these categories

Trick Comp: 1st, 2nd, 3rd
Trackstand: 1st place (I think of the trackstand comp as very egalitarian so one prize for both genders)
Sprints: 1st Women's and 1st Men's

Alleycat
First, Second, Third Mens and Ladies
1st Out of Town Mens and Ladies
1st Masters (35+) Mens and Ladies

While I can't give you a rundown on who's getting what (that'd be a huge pain in the ass)
I can tell you that all of the positions mentioned will be getting bags (mess or backpack). 1st men's and 1st ladies in the alleycat will get a wheelset, a custom bag (Seagull and Trash Bags), and a custom hat (more on that below). The other wheelset will go to the winner of a paper rock scissors between the mens and ladies out of town winners.

And yes, of course the polo tournament is getting the polo guard.

About those hats I just mentioned.
For every big Minneapolis race that Bike Jerks sponsors I make "Holy Shit I Won" hats. This year I enlisted Holly from Grovecraft to make the winners caps
They turned out awesome.

Soutside Suicide 4 Results

For those of you following the blog you know that Southside Suicide was yesterday.

Here's what went down.

I got a call from Randy that morning asking if I was going to practice what I preach. By that he meant riding a single speed. He told me he was going to so I felt that I had to as well. If I was going to lose, I was going to lose with dignity.

Anyway, long story short for the third time in a row, my Benotto carried me to victory. I lead from the first stop to the last and almost threw up at the third stop (you have to slam a beer at every stop), and almost lost it again after the shot of coconut milk and olive.
B. Rad was on my ass the whole way, and he definitely showed his experience in the routes that he chose. (I found out later that B.rad was going for the trifecta of riding out to Carver that morning (40 mile round trip), hitting Super Bridge Club, and then racing. That's a ridiculously big day for anyone)

This was by far the most difficult of my three Southside victories. My legs feel like total shit today.
Thanks to Leif, and thanks to the other riders.

by the end of the race we were all drunk, and later learned some life lessons.

It was a good show all the way around
