Bike Events This Weekend: Memorial Ride and Midwest Championships Polo Tourney

from Jeremy Werst:

First : Dennis Dumm Memorial Ride - 7:30am Thursday Morning

A year ago this Thursday, Dennis Dumm was killed by an asphalt truck while
riding in the Park Avenue bike lane. Tragically it was on the same morning
as the National Ride of Silence.

This year, the Ride of Silence was not organized locally, however Randall
Dietel from VeloVeggies (http://veloveggies.com/) is organizing a memorial
gathering for Dennis on Thursday morning. I would like to encourage
everyone who can to attend.

From his forum post:
http://mplsbikelove.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17313

"Gather at Park Ave and the Midtown Greenway at 7:30 for slow and silent
ride to the intersection of Park Ave and 14th Street for moment of
reflection at 7:40. Bring flowers to leave at the memorial if you can."

And if you would like to get involved and help, I know they would love to
have more volunteers to help with setup and everything.

They also really need more beds and showers for sweaty stinky polo players.
I mean, who doesn't want a bunch of polo kids on their floor for the
weekend?
