Real Bikes: Matt's Pierre
Wheelbuilder to the stars and ex roomie Matty stopped over to the house on Saturday to grill out and let the dogs play. He rode over his Pierre so I took the opportunity to snag some photos of it.
It was built by Andrew Pierre, brother of extreme skier Jamie Pierre known for this kind stuff:
A few years ago Andrew and Matt were both working in the wheels department at QBP and after Andrew got back from UBI framebuilder school, this was the first bike he built. The paint was done by Andrew's father who paints furniture for a living and is clearly not the most durable finish but it's chips and wear are what I think make this bike so attractive. I may be wrong, but I believe that both the post and the stem are seized in the bike as well (not an attractive thing, but it does speak to how Matt uses it).
The Build
DT Swiss 240 Hubs, DT Swiss 1.1 Rims, tied and soldered
Chris King Headset
Ultegra Seathpost
Suski Stem
Control Tech Bars
Avid Levers
Campy Racing T Crankset
Plastic flat pedals (for riding barefoot)
Fizik Aliante Saddle
