Bicycle Boulevard

As I reported last fall, the street in front of our house is being transformed into a bicycle boulevard as part of the Riverlake Greenway project.

This weekend they finally put the finishing touches on the signage and painted the markings on the road. We didn't get bike lanes, instead the painted these in both directions on every block.

They still are working on bumpouts and things farther up the road from our house, but it appears that our section is done. Pretty sweet.

Good to see the paint is down. It will be interesting to see how long the symbols last.

So what do you think of Bicycle Boulevards? Are they an improvement for cyclists? Any impressions about the intersection treatments (the diverter at 11th or 12th, the median at Chicago, the signal and medians at Cedar, etc.)?
