If you don't think Gretzky was/is the greatest hockey player ever, you're an asshole. It's true that there have certainly been more complete players, but no one has ever lit it up like the Great One. Dildo's will say he was merely the greatest passer ever, but they're forgetting the fact that he scored 92 goals in an 80 game fucking season. His stats are simply ridiculous. All the best "pure" goal scorers of his generation, such as Brett Hull, never came close to touching that shit.
