I was wondering if any of you out there have actually used this method to remove a cog. holla back.

I always use high strength loctite when I install my cogs, I broke two chain whips trying to get one off and this was the only thing that worked for me.
I've done it with the sage advice of the kids at Grease Pit. Also broke two chain whips initially, but with Tim's help (and an unsuccessful bout with the blow torch), we rotafixed that shit off.
I had a friend help me remove a cog with this method and his hand slipped and went into the chainring. Blood sprayed all over my kitchen. Maybe we didn't have it set up right but I use a chain whip and a long pipe for leverage.

I've used it to put on and take off cogs. It works great, but I wouldn't advise skipping the lockring (like some folks advocate with this method).
