Bike Culture Write Up in Metro mag

Metro mag just did a huge write up on Minneapolis cycling culture.

It hits some highs and lows and of course as any mainstream publication that does a piece on the "counter culture" tends to do it traffics in a number of well worn stereotypes.

Did you know that dudes who ride fixies roll up their pants, drink PBR, wear slip on shoes, and "too tight" caps? That's some killer reporting bro!



I was super stoked to see that the article mentions the All City Championshp.

Dead Wrestler of the Week

C.M. Burma clued me in to this little gem of a time killer: Deadspin's Dead Wrestler of the Week feature.


As you may or may not know, I grew up watching the AWA and WWF during the glory years of the eighties and very early nineties, and have a soft spot in my heart for the men of that time period. One of my earliest memories is watching AWA every Saturday night at 10:30 and pouring myself a glass of Mello Yello in my favorite Looney Tunes glass. During the regular run of things, I was not allowed to drink soda at such a late hour, so this always made me feel very decadent (if a nine year old can feel decadent).

Anyway, I highly suggest you check it out.

Peacock Groove Project: Tubes

Stopped by P to the G yesterday to pick up the Benotto, have a peak at the dropouts and tubing, and talk over final details with Erik so he can finish the drawing today. For those of you keeping score at home, we are exiting the 3rd week of the project. Fabrication is scheduled to be concluded next week. We'll see if he makes it. In all fairness though, he's added a bunch of complexity (man hours) to the project by agreeing to the polished fork ends, dropouts, and fork crown.

When the drawing is finished I'll get some pics for you and next week I'll be researching paint jobs, I'm sure you'll like that.

All three main tubes are Columbus Zona. He had them wrapped up in the newspaper so I didn't mess with them, but I'm guessing since it's Zona, the tubes are asymetrical(sp?)

Well, he sold both bikes for $1250 a piece via our local forum MPLS BikeLove.

Can you believe that shit? You could've had potentially the coolest track bike on the planet for twelve hundred and fifty bucks. That's just crazy!
