Stolen Bike Alert - MPLS
Got this message from Levi-
Sometime this past week, some asshole broke into my garage, stole one of my bikes and fucked up my 1973 VW bug's engine. If you could make a post about it, it would mean so much!
I attached a picture of it. It's a Specialized Fuse 2. It has a red Circa sticker on it.
If you see it, get a hold of me.

Cool Story Bro
The Tarp Story
After last week's Cool Story Bro, B. reminded me of another incident.
So me and Tony were eating breakfast at Liquor Lyle's in Uptown, this was a few years back now, and I was enjoying my green eggs and ham and my eyes were wandering around as they often do, because I'm a creep.
Mid meal I catch eyes with a girl sitting at the bar. Thinking nothing of it, I continue eating. I was just finishing the toast when she gets up to leave and instead of heading out the door, circles back to our booth.
She sits and before I can get a word out says,
"Hi, my name's (?). I live right behind the bar. Come over when you're done. Bring a tarp."
And walks out.

Anybody ever see a Shimano Track End?
I hadn't, not before noticing this tonight on the Croll track frame I got at the swap.
I feel like I've seen Shimano dropouts before, but never a horizontal.
Anybody know when they made these or if they were common?
A weird thing (or maybe not) is that the dropouts aren't left or right, the same dropout is used for both sides on this bike. (logo on outside of non drive and inside of drive side)
drop some knowledge in the comments
Bike Jerks Kits
We are in the process of designing (I say "we" but really Kelly Mac (thanks a bunch) is in the process of designing) the first ever Bike Jerks kit.
I had high hopes of getting a racing team going this year (still do). But in the meantime I'm settling for kitting up the homies.
The design isn't done yet but I wanted to let you all know that it's coming. As soon as it's finished we'll be booking orders. Watch out for it.
Inside Velocity USA
As you may or may not know, the Velocity guys are my homies and some of the best folks in the bike industry.
They do it all so right, they sponsor tons of events and riders, make great product (with the A23 being my current favorite), and the customer service is always amazing. Whenever my hard earned dollars are spent on rims, I look to Velocity first because I know I'm not likely to have an issue, and if I do, they'll fix the hell out of it without any hassle.
Matt sent over these photos of Ryan (dude who manages the wheel building) shredding on the ramps that they keep setup in their warehouse for after hours sessions.
Indoor skatepark.
So jealous.

Bandit Cross 8 March 25th Photos
Despite a late minute change of venue, 9 racers and a whole lot more spectators showed up for Sunday's race at Hidden Beach on Cedar Lake.
I have been wanting to throw a race there for some time, but since it's a high traffic area with lots of police surveillance it is the diciest course yet in terms of potential for hassle.
Every thing was going smooth during course work, but on our scout lap this old lady in the woods near the bridge started yelling at us. We did our best to divert the course around her area and you could: a. tell that she was used to seeing tons of bikers bandit mtb'ing b. was used to yelling at bikers c. got humored often
We also found out later that she was on the board of the park.
Now this sort of thing is exaclty the type of doomsday scenario for Bandit Cross that I want to avoid at all costs. So we divert the course around her since she's in the back part of the woods by the bridge and there are plenty of cutoff trails.
The race runs smoothly inspite of a few groups of walkers and dog owners.
(here's where we turn it around)
One of the racers stopped to chat with her during the race and she asked them for help in moving a log. We quickly formed like Voltron and rolled 6 deep to her aid. We pulled a bunch of stumps out of the woods and helped her move like a 25 foot log.
We did it like it was nothing.
While performing these Herculean tasks (next she asked us to clean the stables of Augeus), Spanish came by on her last lap and the lady got bummed. But then we all clapped and cheered, and she realized that Spanish was with us and that this motley bunch of do-gooders were the very same bikers she was earlier bummed on. And she got quiet and we all slinked away.
We also did a bunch of trail maintenance, including removing several large blocking logs, and carried out a bunch of trash from the woods.
We killed it.
A kid named Max won.
Here are some pictures.

Bandit Cross Change of Venue
We went down to check on the course today, and while hobo camp is totally raceable, we also checked in on the Hidden Beach course that I've had my eye on for a while now.
Even though the weather was great, there was hardly anybody around so I feel that the time is right.
It does need some trail work though, so please show up and bring a saw if you've got one. (a sawzall would be best)

War on Women
seriously, fuck the G.O.P.
If you support the modern day incarnation of the Republican party, stay the fuck away from me. We've got nothing in common.
Back in Action
Our stuff's a bit beat up but we got everything back except my iphone.
Huge thanks to our neighbors who saw the suspicious activity and called it in. Good looking out.
R.I.P. Bootsy Bailey
Sometime the night after the break in or yesterday, our little hedgehog friend Bootsy passed away.
He was a spiky little grumpy bowl of awesome hog. He will be missed.
Condolences to my darling B. Ridge

Cool Story Bro
So we we're at Smogcutter on Thursday night after the GSC party and this girl comes up to our group with her Polaroid camera and asks if she can take our picture, to which we agree of course. She shoots and then scurries off with the photo.
She comes back quickly and hands the still developing photo to Kyle, and runs off. 5 minutes later she comes up to me and goes "I like your buffalo plaid" and begins to chat me up. Where am I from, what am I doing in town, etc. I was half finished with my cocktail and she asks if she can buy me a drink, of course she can. I hand my half empty off to the drinkless guy to my left and wait for a freshie.
She has no problem getting service at the bar and hands me a tall Jack and Coke and then vanishes again. I pick up that she wants me to follow over to her group of friends but instead I resume talking to my homies.
Another 5 minutes passes and she comes back. "YOU GAY?" she asks with a sassy spin of the head. I reply that in fact I am not gay, to which she responds "You got a girlfiend?" To which I of course let her know that in fact I do have a girlfriend.
She then looks me up and down like a restaurant menu, puts her hands on her hips and lets loose with "Too bad, I needed some DICK tonight!" and once more saunters off.

Product Review: Lizard Skins DSP Tape
Among a year of new awesome stuff, one of the absolute best things to come into my life components wise has been Lizard Skins DSP bar tape. Specifically the 2.5mm thick variety.
I put it on my Space Horse this fall, and now I don't think I'll ever buy anything else again.
I like thick cushy tape, I'd never use cloth and rarely use non gel cork tape, and sometimes even put a layer of tape under the tape for gravel. The 2.5mm DSP is plenty thick enough for my liking, and it seems to stand up to abrasion better than cork. It' nice and tacky (but not sticky), and looks really good.
I can't recommend it highly enough.
