Pretty amazing, huh.

The party boys over at Rock-It Courier have just added a new weapon to their arsenal that they've nicknamed the U-Boat.  Now not only can they bring you the sandwich, smokes, and Crystal Delight that you're jonesing for, but they can also deliver things that won't fit in a messenger bag.

If you're looking to get in touch with MPLS' only courier owned deliver anything service, get a hold of the boys at 612-HOLY-247

35 miles of mixed pavement, bandit trails, Theo Wirth mtb trails, and swimming.  Pretty Sweet.

Powderhorn 24 2012

So the second annual Powderhorn 24 has come and gone, once more it was superfun to have an adult slumber party, ingest booze at frat party levels, meet the neighbors and cheer on some friends.

Our team was built upon a simple strategy of not giving a shit about riding, combined with totally giving a shit about those rare opportunities to shine.  Margaritas, beer handups, home made jumps, neighbor kids, sprinklers. All were deployed in our best efforts to brighten the racers mood every lap.

Here is some of the photographic evidence of what went on.

Treasure crashing his brains out

notice the backwards forks, both the neighborhood girls were rocking this setup.  must be a South MPLS thang.

this dude was two of the neighborhood kids fathers, that little girl and the boy below.  we thought he was going to yell at us for letting his kids engage in dangerous behavior, but instead he yelled at his son to stop being such a wuss, then showed him how to boost it.  life lessons.

Check out the rest of the photos on my Flickr, perhaps there's one of you in there.

Cool Story Bro

Tonight we headed to the dog park and then the Co-op to pick up some groceries.  Since it was hot I grabbed a button up, sleeveless style.  This shirt belonged to my grandfather and is one of the only things I have from him.  He was a whippet of a man, and in order to make it wearable I had to chop the sleeves off.

Holy crap was I a dirty look magnet. I had folks staring to the left, the right...People would look at my face, then their eyes would go in for the body scan.
Being prone to leering, I know that move inside and out.

As the eyes descended all made a gagging lemon face like I had just farted.
This ensemble was molesting their eyeballs and ruining the experience of paying $8 for a gallon of milk.

Ever had an LSD wrinkled prune of a man in Tom's (fucking Tom's, are you kidding me?), cargo shorts with a belt, and a tucked in tye dye look at you like you hump goats out back in the shed?

It's the socks right?  I gotta lose the socks.

Last Tuesday

Matt Montoya

You can pretty much count on one hand the number of dudes who really make riding a fixed gear bicycle in a freestyle fashion look good.  Matt Montoya is definitely in that club. His riding is so smooth.

Reintroduction: Lazer Hands

In the hoopla over the introduction of the now infamous "Prolly is not Sheldon Brown" shirt, I feel like the way rad Lazer Hands got a bit overlooked.

This shirt is yet another amazing Bike Jerks design from our homie from Portland, Greg Bemis, who is part of the Experiment With Nature crew. Greg is also responsible for some amazing Track or Treat flyers, and the Party Wolf design.

Dude's amazing.

So if you're in the market for a real nice shirt, check it out.  Each one is hand printed by me in my basement workshop in South Minneapolis.

Favorite Things: PDW Stainless Pint Glass

Earlier this year my friends at PDW bestowed upon me this little gem of a drinking vessel.

While it sat most of the winter, now that it's outdoor playtime in Minnesota I have discovered something amazing.  Something that may forever change the way I imbibe bourbon.

Namely that if you put ice cubes in this thing and a few ounces, a miracle happens.  The outside of the cup ices over and gets so cold that it'd freeze the hand off an Eskimo.

The coldness of the cup makes the whiskey crazy delicious, and once you try it, you'll never go back.

Now only if I could find a stainless highball.

go get one of yourself

GSC Kits Vid - Party Wolf Spotting

Check out Kyle rocking his Bike Jerks Party Wolf t-shirt in this new vid from Golden Saddle.

This weekend was crazy busy with on the bike and off the bike activities, however I don't have shit for photos on it.

I took a little blogger vacation and decided to chill out and just experience the moments rather than obsessively documenting them.  It's a small distinction, but it makes a big difference to my experience, and it's gotten to the point the past few years, where if I don't shoot photos I feel like it didn't happen.  If I can't share it, what's the point?

It's kind of a fucked up way to go through life, and every now and then it's nice to just be normal.

On Friday we did some prep for our garage sale Saturday morning then headed over to the Nature Valley Grand Prix crit in Uptown.

Tons of folks were out and about and it was great to crack some beers on the street and see some familiar faces.

After that it was off to Barbette for some drinks on the patio and then to Memory Lanes to celebrate some birthdays and see Nico's (one of All-City's couriers) band play on the lanes.

The Young Distractions

The next day we had a garage sale, but got rained out after only an hour in business.  Sale prep dominated our evenings for the past week so it was a bit of a disappointment.  The good thing was that I got off the hook early and was now free to ride in the 7th annual BBQ Cat thrown by Andy Larson of Trash Bags.

I've won the race in the past, and have been lying low in terms of alleycats, so I was pumped to spend the day racing.

About 17 folks raced and negotiated a full city course where we were made to ingest a bunch of gross grill out themed stuff.  Shots of relish followed up by a shot of Polish for instance.

I was the first racer back but read the manifest wrong and had to head back out to fix my error.  By the time I got back three other riders had finished.  Turns out though that we were all hosed, as the only racer who actually got all the answers right was a girl named Katy who was back about 45 minutes.

Bummer to have messed up the race, but all of us were super pumped on the outcome and the winner.  She ruled that shit.

Happily, I neglected to shoot any photos of the race or after party.

After that we headed to the dog park for some beers at sunset and then I rode over to the Angry Catfish for their Rapha party.  The move after that was to the backyard for some whiskey sipping with Matt around the fire.

Sunday Bridget and I rode over to the downtown farmers market to pick up some produce and then drove over to Goodwill to drop off a bunch of rummage sale stuff and then went record shopping.

Weekend like these make it so good to live here.
