If you haven't heard, Belgian cyclist Wouter Weylandt suffered a fatal crash on today's Giro stage. This is the first casualty in a major tour in over 15 years, and a reminder that cycling is often both a beautiful and tragic sport. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and the whole peloton, wherever you ride be careful out there.

ReplyDeleteNot the first in 15+ years though. Andrei Kivilev died during Paris-Nice in '03. His death made the UCI mandate the use of helmets.
