Tricks and Drinks Tuesday Night

I'm not sure what the rest of the kids are doing, but I'm planning on enjoying a nice quiet downtown session. call me if you've got the number and want to go along.

Seen at Peacock Groove.

As you can see Erik's been a busy boy.

Without a doubt Erik is one of the finest bicycle craftsman working today. Buy a bike from Him! Support local artisans.

Mini Ramp!

I was lucky enough to get to ride this dude's mini ramp on Saturday, It was in a warehouse space converted to an apartment, and I must say it is hands down the nicest apartment I have seen in Minneapolis. This dude really knows how to live.
I hope to get to ride it more and film it for our Bootleg Sessions segment.

Spotted at Sadie

Connor spotted this dude wearing his signature shirt at Sadie Hawkins weekend in Chicago. Although apparently he had no idea as to what the shirt was about or who we were. His roomate picked it up when I was handing out free shit someplace.

MN State Cyclocross race!

my sweet little Matty rocked the C race to the tune of a 12th place finish, on his singlespeed Pierre.
Nice work guy.

All City Prize frame

You may recall that for the second year in a row Brad from Capricorn donated a frameset to the All City Championship alleycat race that I throw. The winner this year was Rita and this is her magnificent prize. Remember that not only does Brad donate a frameset, but he actually custom builds it to the winner's specs. So amazing and awesome. Also Brad currently has a $100 rebate for anyone who puts a down payment on a frame at the moment. Get a hold of him and buy a bike.

Brad, thanks again for all your love and support. You're generosity amazes and humbles me. Capricorn's site

JBL's Capricorn

Bike Jerks family member JBL, recently got this beautiful Capricorn from Brad. I hope this one takes less time to build than your Soma! Get that fucker on the road.

New Sticker and Stockist

So first things first: Vince over at V.S. bought several custom hand dyed t-shirts from me recently. Please go down and buy one. It would really help me out if Vince is successful with these shirts and I encourage any of you out there who have wanted a colored Bike Jerks shirt to go see what he has. They are on hand dyed cotton and feature unique ink colors and several have the new Good Girl design. Speaking of that design, B.Ridget hooked me up with a version of it for stickers and you can pick up a sticker at V.S. or One on One.

More Track or Treat

Pics of the winner and his prize.Big thanks again to Andy from Minneapolis' newest messenger bag company: Trash Bags. I'll keep saying it until I die, support local business. and more importantly support people from your local scene when they try to make a contribution to the culture. I realize that is a bit self serving, but it's a very simple and very honest truth. If you support them you are helping to ensure that they will continue to exist and enrich Minneapolis. And this extends way past bags, hats (Holly over Grovecraft is the shit), and t-shirts.
Support your local frame builder, we have many who heavily support this community. Capricorn (Brad I owe you a debt greater than I will ever be able to repay, I love my Capricorn and cherish it) has given a frame away to All City two years in a row, have you ever even heard of an alleycat race outside Minneapolis that has a custom frame to be built for the winner. Fuck no you haven't. And because of his generosity Erik from Peacock Groove donated a frameset to Babes in Bikeland. Have you ever even seen a Peacock Groove. Erik is one of the most innovative frame builders working in this country, last year he built a bike that had an integrated bottom bracket and shell for a Campy ultra torque crankset. Last year. Do you have any idea how sick that it is. His skills with a torch are second to none and he is the only local tig welding custom builder that I know of in the area. We also have Joel over at Clockwork building very nice bikes, check the earlier post about Trevor's track bike for proof of that.
The point is, these people actually give a shit about you, give a shit about the races, give a shit about the community. Support local artisans, because it would be a shitty place without them. Sorry about the preaching, but these guys need your support to continue to do what they love. Buy a bike, a hat, a bag or something from them. don't be a dick

And here's some footy from the Best Trick contest, which was way better and more fun than I thought it could be. Dudes were landing some rad shit.

I love Mountain Biking is Wisconsin!

Anna's Falcon

I built this as a gift for my friend Anna this summer. It is modeled after B.Ridget's Trek (aka: zippy dude) that you might have seen sporting some lime green rims. It is my vision of the perfect townie. Single, with 3 speed bars, a lightweight wheelset, and a comfy seat. The frame is an early 70's Falcon, handmade in England from Reynolds 531 tubing. The ride is super compliant and cush and the color is unique.

YFG from YFG on Vimeo. that quick skid to slider, and those nose pivots are so sick.

Track or Treat thanks

A big thank you to everyone who came out for Track or Treat, I had a ton of fun and I hope that you did too. We had forty or so racers, and Eric and Alicia came out on top in the Alleycat. I myself was super excited to be able to hand Alicia the winners prize: here's to many more victories to come. The custom Trash Bag went to Eric as the overall winner, thanks again Andy for making such a great prize. (If you need a bag, get a of hold him, buy local)
Traffic was thick and everyone made it back safely, although I hear the guy who went down in the sprints is suffering some memory loss, even so he made his next start for the championship dash where Trevor once more handed everyone their ass.
Will no one come forward to vanquish the Robeast known as Trevor Crayton?

Also of note, the Trick contest was so much better than I expected and kids were nailing their tricks. nice work Carney and Vinnie.
see you next year
